SITE GUIDELINES

1. TENTS

All tents are to be pitched on lettered sites away from the central area.  Sites are lettered anti-clockwise A-I commencing next to the chapel. A map of the site is inside the double green doors to the Long Barn

  2. WATER,GAS & ELECTRICITY
 
These services are metered to the site. Please take care not to waste them.

  3. TOILETS
 
Permanent flush toilets are provided and no latrines are to be erected or pits dug.  Please leave
  them clean and tidy for the next users

  4. FIRES
 
Fires may only be lit on the permanent altar fire on the sites and at the camp fire circle.  Altar
  fires must be cleared at the end of camp and left empty for the next users

  5. WOOD
 
NO GROWING TIMBER ON OR OFF THE SITE MAY BE CUT.
 
Saws are recommended for use on site and only under proper supervision.

Knives & axes are only to be used by trained users or for training purposes.  When not in use, axes must be under the control of the camp leader and knives properly stored/sheathed.  Axes must not be taken outside of the site.

  6. REVEILLE & LIGHTS OUT
 
Reveille must not be earlier than 0630hrs and lights out NOT later than 2230hrs.  Please 
  consider our neighbours at all times.  Late night music parties will result in expulsion from the 
  camp site.

  IN ORDER TO RESPECT THE LOCAL RESIDENTS, PLEASE DO NOT
  ENTER/EXIT VIA THE SILVER GATE (ONCE LOCKED) AFTER 2130 AND
  BEFORE 0700 EXCEPT IN AN EMERGENCY


 
7. DOGS  
 
NO dogs are allowed on the site

  8. DISPOASL OF REFUSE 
  No rubbish pits are to be dug.  All burnable rubbish, including food waste must be burnt. 
 There is a glass and paper bank in the adjoining Council Depot Car Park.  All other refuse must 
  be disposed of off site


  
9. CAMPING STANDARDS
 
The highest standards of camping are required and expected and at the end of each camp the 
  site must be cleared of all rubbish, erections etc. and all unused wood returned to the wood
  pile.

 
The Site manager reserves the right to make spot check visits to ensure camping standards 
  and the Rules and regulations are being adhered to.

 
For Scout & Guide Groups, permission to Camp Forms must be submitted in accordance with
  P.O.R. together with programs, menus, etc.

 
10. BANSTEAD WOODS
 
The Bye-Laws applicable to Banstead woods must be strictly adhered to and any willful
  damage to trees, shrubs, plants or surrounding fences etc. may incur heavy fines.  

 
11. TRAINING ROOM  - ROUND BARN
 
Tables & chairs are not to be taken into the main field or activity field without permission

 
12. CLIMBING & ABSEILLING
 
This facility must not be used without the prior permission of the Site Manager.  All climbing
  and abseiling equipment should be supplied by the hirer.  Safety ropes and helmets are to be   
  used at all times and safety ropes to be manned throughout the activity.  Instructors must hold
  the necessary qualifications as laid down in P.O.R.

  13. MOTOR VEHICLES
 
No motorised vehicles are allowed on the camp site or games field.  Vehicles must not 
  proceed 
beyond the tarmac car park.  Additional parking space is available immediately
  outside the gate to the camp site.

  14. OUT OF BOUNDS
 
The Round Barn, Fellowship room, Garage and Workshop are all OUT OF BOUNDS

  15. SITE MANAGER 
 
In the absence of the Site Manager or one of his team on site, the Scouter in charge of the  
  camp will be responsible for ensuring that the site is left in a satisfactory condition, including
  turning off all taps, lights and electrical appliances before locking up the premises.  The Scout
  Association’s advice regarding a Camp Guard should be considered when activities are
  undertaken off this site.

  It is expected that the facilities will be respected.  The return of the deposit paid to offset any
  damage will rely on the condition of the site at the end of each camp following an inspection
  by the Site Manger or his team.

  16. KEYS
 
Arrangements for the supply and return of keys to the site should be made with the Bookings
  Secretary.  This will ordinarily mean collection of them from his home at a time convenient to
  all.  Return of the keys must be accompanied by any balance of camp fees owing.

  17. TIME OF ARRIVAL
 
The anticipated time of arrival must be forwarded to the Bookings secretary at least ONE
  WEEK before hand to ensure that the keys are available and all other arrangements can be
  made.

  Please notify the anticipated time of departure to the Bookings secretary when collecting the
  keys.

 

18. BARBEQUE
Barbeques are available for hire at an additional charge of £10.00 per weekend  by prior arrangement with the bookings secretary and needs to be booked 1 week before the camp in order that it can be taken out of storage as keys to that area are not given out.

19. WOODPILES
Please ensure any unused wood is placed back in the designated woodpile areas

20. ACCIDENTS
 
All personal injuries that require treatment by a Doctor, Dentist, or at a hospital MUST be
  reported to the Site Manager and to Scout Insurance Services, Lancing 01903 768524

21. DRUGS / ALCOHOL
 
NO DRUGS (Except medication) are allowed on site at any time.  Alcohol may be consumed at
  the discretion of the Camp Leader but not by anyone under the age of 18

22. FURNITURE / EQUIPMENT
 
Any use of tables, chairs or equipment must be returned to the place it is stored
